Morning reflections at Mono Lake
Despite being June, it was a frigid morning at Mono Lake, California. We reached the shore of the lake at South Tufa about 30 minutes before the sunrise, hoping to catch the first morning light hitting the Sierra mountains reflecting in the lake with eerie-looking tufa towers made of limestone in the foreground. Unfortunately, with the sun came a wind, and reflections were no longer as pronounced as in this photo taken several minutes earlier, just before the sunrise.
