Fall colors in Barker Dam
Being in Joshua Tree National Park in late December, we were nicely surprised to see beautiful fall colors in the Barker Dam reservoir area. Considering the park consists mainly of a rocky desert landscape covered with iconic Joshua trees, it was great to photograph something different. The Barker Dam, also known as Big Horn Dam, was built at the beginning of the 20th century to provide water resources for livestock. It is an excellent place to visit, not only to photograph but also to hike the Barker Dam Nature Trail.
