Eastern Sierra view from Monitor Pass
It was the last photo we took that day driving in a high mountain pass called Monitor Pass located in the Sierra Nevada southeast of Lake Tahoe. We went from Lake Tahoe to Mono Lake taking the state rote 89, knowing that it provides excellent views of the mountain ranges. It was undoubtedly easier to explore the Monitor Pass than what Jedediah Smith must have experienced while exploring this area in 1827. He was the first non-native person that crossed the Sierra Nevada.
