Clouds over the Monument Canyon
Monument Canyon is the largest canyon in Colorado National Monument, showcasing a variety of striking rock formations. The canyon's most notable feature is the Independence Monument, a towering 5,739-foot sandstone pillar illuminated by the morning sun in this photo. Other remarkable formations in the canyon include the linear Coke Ovens and the 400-foot-high Kissing Couple tower. Rim Rock Drive offers convenient access to several viewpoints, providing excellent opportunities to photograph these unique rock structures. This image was captured near the Grand View, highlighting the dramatic and picturesque landscapes of Monument Canyon.
