Clouds over sand dunes – Great Sand Dunes National Park
Great Sand Dunes National Park is a prime destination for landscape photography, showcasing the tallest sand dune formations in North America, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The park features diverse landscapes, including wetlands and streams, providing numerous vantage points for capturing the grandeur of the dunes. Photographers can explore the dunes up close, capturing intricate details and patterns, or take in broader views from a distance. This photo was taken about 4 miles south of the visitor center along Road 150. Although the Sangre de Cristo Mountains were obscured by fog and clouds on this day, the location remains ideal for including them in the background when visibility permits.
