Sunrise at John Moulton Barn – Mormon Row, Grand Teton National Park
This photo shows the John Moulton Barn on Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, just as the sun comes up. The barn stands among sagebrush fields, with the sharp peaks of the Teton Range rising behind it. The soft morning light brings out the warm colors of the barn and plants and highlights the rough textures of the mountains. Mormon Row is a historic area first settled by Mormon homesteaders in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The John Moulton Barn, built in the early 1900s, is one of the best-preserved examples of the area’s farm buildings. It shows how settlers adapted to the tough climate and used local materials. Today, the site is a cultural landmark and a popular spot for photographers who want to capture both history and mountain scenery. For photographers, mid-telephoto lenses are ideal for isolating specific mountains or ridgelines and compressing layers for dramatic effect. Including foreground trees or ridges provides context and scale.
