Low Clouds from Hurricane Ridge, Olympic National Park

This photo shows a high viewpoint from Hurricane Ridge, one of the easiest alpine spots to reach in Olympic National Park. You can see several ridges dropping into a valley filled with thick low clouds, which often happens here when moist sea air cools overnight. In front, subalpine meadows and scattered evergreen trees help set the scale. In the distance, sharp mountain shapes stretch along the horizon, creating a sense of depth. This spot is especially good at sunrise, when the cloud layers are still in place, and the wind is usually calm.
