The Mono Lake tufa towers
It was our first trip to Mono Lake, and we found this place fascinating. Limestone formations called Tufa towers visible in the photo are very distinctive features of the lake. The best time to photograph them is sunrise and sunset, especially when the water is still creating beautiful reflections. Depending on the light and cloud condition, water may take different colors, adding even more interest to the photos. This photo was taken just before sunset at the part of the lake called South Tufa.
