The Lone Cypress

Landscape Photography

The Lone Cypress, a storied symbol of the Monterey Peninsula, stands proudly along the scenic 17-Mile Drive between Cypress Point Club and Pebble Beach Golf Links. As one of the most photographed trees in North America, the Lone Cypress has withstood the relentless forces of the Pacific winds for over 250 years. This iconic tree, a native of Monterey, is renowned for its solitary and resilient presence against a dramatic coastal backdrop. Several vantage points along 17-Mile Drive provide stunning views of the Lone Cypress, but we captured this particular shot from the top of a wooden deck near a parking lot. This perspective offers a unique angle, showcasing the tree’s enduring elegance amidst the rugged beauty of the Pacific coastline.
