Badwater Basin Salt Polygons at Sunset

Landscape Photography

At 282 feet below sea level, the 200 square miles of salt flats in Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park provide an excellent opportunity to photograph geometric shapes made of salt deposits. Time around sunrise and sunset is the best time to visit this place. During the dawn, the mountains are filled with warm morning light. With the sun closer to the ground, the salt patterns are more evident. After the sunset, like in this case, light adds beautiful colors to the clouds adding more interest to the photo.
